Saintes-Bourges, July 21st

  • July 21, 2018

This morning, after the weather briefing, we took off for Bourges. It was a relatively short flight, lasting just one hour and fifty minutes. I left Saintes at 11:00 AM, forgetting to take my prepared meals, as I thought they would be waiting for me upon arrival. I arrived in Bourges at 12:50 PM and parked the plane. Once at the aero club, I immediately went looking for a sandwich and a banana. Thanks to my colleagues, I was able to eat a hearty meal!

During the flight, there was a “P” zone – meaning “prohibited” – which is the airspace over the Civaux nuclear power plant, restricted for overflights. You can see it in the center of the photo. Today is a day of rest; we have the afternoon free. I took the opportunity to clean the plane, tidy up my belongings, and had a video conference call with my communications officer and her team…

At 4:15 PM, the sound of the event’s foghorn brought us together for refreshments. My phone shows that I walk between 8 and 12 km each day. That explains why I often feel hungry and have sore feet in the evenings… After refreshments, we had a briefing and an appointment at 5:30 PM at the town hall of Bourges, where we were invited by local officials. Then, it was back to the aero club for dinner.

I was a little late publishing this account due to an extra laundry load. I had to re-clean my flight suit because of a splash of orange juice. Since tomorrow is a public event, it was important to be presentable…
