Landivisiau, July 18th
- July 18, 2018
Arriving yesterday at 2:00 PM in Landivisiau, as I had announced, it’s difficult to communicate what we are experiencing from within the naval air base. You will see us in photos on the FFA (French Federation of Aeronautics) and Info Pilote websites.
We were warmly welcomed and had the opportunity to visit the base, getting a close-up look at a Rafale Marine fighter jet. Immediately after the visit, we had a briefing by Julien Chérioux, the world champion of air rally, about the precision rally events for the following day.
We had a barbecue dinner with the base personnel, and listened to adventure stories from a Rafale Marine pilot who had started flying in an aviation club.
Michel Rocca, the president of ACRIV, my aviation club, surprised us by visiting us at the air base.

We took off at 9:44:00 AM for the precision rally, where I was the navigator, working in tandem with my colleague from ACRIV.
It was a flight of over an hour and a half, with many checkpoints and locations to identify based on photos, some of which were incorrect.
In the afternoon, we welcomed young people who came to visit us at the air base. My task was to demonstrate how an airplane is controlled, showing the action of the flight controls.
For the afternoon snack, we enjoyed delicious “crêpes bretonnes”, of course!
Then, we had a briefing for the flight the next day, which would take us to Saintes with a flight duration of approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes.
