Chartres, July 15th
- July 15, 2018
I left Rennes under a vast blue sky. Takeoff was at 9:30 AM, with a small wingtip wag to say goodbye to those who were staying behind (Michel and Jean-Marc) and who had accompanied me this morning (Mom, Dad, and my sister). Heading to Chartres, with weather conditions that would gradually deteriorate, as I knew from the weather forecast.

And here is Chartres, with a bit of rain that, fortunately, won’t last long. It’s impossible to miss, the imposing cathedral is visible from afar! I landed on the relatively short runway and parked the aircraft with the others.

I was welcomed by the organizing team, and we went through the usual administrative procedures. There were lots of little welcome gifts that put us in a good mood, and of course, the sky-blue Hop! Tour spacesuit. We put on the sponsor stickers and had a photo session in front of the newly decorated airplane.

In the evening, we all posed together in front of the Antonov An-2 for the official Hop! Tour photo, with a hat toss (posted online on the FFA Facebook page).
