Aurillac-Niort
- July 30, 2018
This morning is the day to return to Rennes. The weather briefing doesn’t predict good conditions in the direction I need to go.
I said goodbye to the organizing team, thanking them for all the work they put in, and headed to the parking area to my plane, helping a few others push their aircraft out of the soft grass.
The Rafale and Alphajet aircraft took off, making a final low-altitude pass at full speed, creating a deafening noise.

It was 11:00 AM when I was about to depart, but then there were parachute jumps. My departure was postponed until they finished. Finally, given the time, I had lunch with the last meal provided by the HOP! Tour and took off at 12:28 PM.
I landed at Niort after 1 hour and 50 minutes of flight to refuel, rest, and get the latest weather bulletin because I’m not confident about the weather conditions heading north.

Ultimately, I decided not to take any risks and preferred to stay at Niort. I put the DR400 in the hangar, and a guy from the airfield kindly drove me to the hotel where I had reserved a room for the night.
Tomorrow, the weather is forecast to be more favorable, I will continue my journey, and I will be rested, because 15 days of group living is tiring, and I’m exhausted.

The VOR (VHF Omnidirectional Range) of Limoges seen from the air. It’s an instrument that allows you to maintain a heading while flying (see how the instrument works in the appendix of the website).
