The traffic pattern is a trajectory that an aircraft must follow around an airport while in visual flight conditions to land safely. It involves taking off with an initial climb, turning left into the crosswind, then another left turn to begin the downwind at 1,000 feet above ground level. The pilot then configures the aircraft for landing. After 1.6 nautical miles from the runway, a further left turn initiates the base leg, followed by a final turn for the final approach with a 3° approach angle. If all goes well, the aircraft will land!
